What makes a GREAT cleaning company
When I first moved to Las Vegas five years ago, I needed some help in cleaning a recently renovated apartment. I opened Google and Yelp and went to town -- there were hundreds of cleaning companies, of all shapes and sizes. “This is going to be easy!” - I thought. Welp, I was wrong. Most of the companies I contacted either didn’t answer the phone, had no website, had terrible reviews, or had customer care level of the DMV. (Now that I own one, I would perhaps be kinder and less judgmental, of course!) After a few frustrating conversations, I managed to hire a small solo cleaner, in hopes that there will be more attention to detail and better result. Wrong again.
Had my experience been different and had I not found myself standing on a kitchen table with a soapy sponge in hand and cursing like a sailor, I would have never dared to start my own cleaning company. As it was, when my best childhood friend Nargi immigrated to US and needed a job, we decided to create Superb Maids, armed only with a now infamous Reddit post by Rohan Gilkes (aka localcasestudy, who launched thousands of would-be entrepreneurs). Fast-forward 4 years and we were able to dominate the Vegas market, generating millions in revenue, buying our own office building and winning every local and national award.
Since my friend and I had zero industry experience, we’ve approached this business as consumers. And we’ve built our company with these ingredients:
The right mindset.
Investment in relationships.
The right tools and systems.
Mindset. From the outset, we’ve decided to do things right. One of my favorite sayings comes from a small aircraft maker who said: “If it ain’t right, it ain’t right.” We’ve identified our values and our top value was honesty. Since in our business, trust is an absolute must, we’ve felt that we must genuinely earn our clients’ trust. We were able to do it by:
being properly licensed, bonded, and insured (despite the high costs)
standing by our 100% satisfaction guarantee
repairing any property damage accidentally caused by our staff
being open and honest about any mistakes or issues that came up.
In the short term, this kind of commitment to one’s principles is costly. But, in the long run, it allowed us to earn a solid reputation as a trustworthy and reliable provider. In business, especially our business, reputation is everything.
Relationships. What frequently happens when you first hire an employee? Typically, a person who has been unemployed for a bit, is struggling financially. She maybe a recent immigrant. Suffering from abuse. Or experiencing other challenges. From the beginning, Superb Maids chose to invest in long-term relationships with our employees. We lend them a hand. We help them over the hump in any way we can - until they’re back on their feet and thriving: buying new cars, having plenty of food, creating families, buying their first homes (we even have a home-buying assistance program!). Needless to say, that employee will be 200% more committed and diligent after experiencing our commitment.
Similarly, we invest in our relationships with other vendors, our competitors, our allies, and community as a whole. We support local charities. We actually care. Some people think that contributing to non-profits is not good for business. But those people are wrong. It’s excellent for business, since people like doing business with companies they like.
Systems. Once we found ourselves being in high demand and experiencing neck-breaking growth pace, we had two choices: 1) have a nervous breakdown, or 2) come up with systems and tools to handle that growth. While we were really tempted to choose the first option, we ultimately went for the second one. Today nearly every aspect of our business has a system that improves consistency of operations. Our customers get automated reminders of appointments by email and text. Employees watch training videos for every aspect of their job. For every hiccup that comes up, we let ourselves feel bad for 5 minutes, followed by creating a system that would prevent this hiccup in the future.

All in all, building a great cleaning company is no rocket science. Yet, majority seems to struggle. Of those companies who succeeded, all three of the elements above are present. All of us - without fail - have the right mindset, relationships, and systems.
Congratulations to our team for winning SBA's 2019 Nevada Small Business of the Year!
What an incredible honor! Our SBA loan officer has nominated us without our knowledge and we were surprised and blown away by the community’s response.
The Story of How Superb Maids Began
My name is Elena and I’m the owner of Superb Maids.
At the age of 22, I had immigrated to US and enrolled in law school. Unfortunately, things were pretty rough and I have found myself struggling to keep the food on the table as a single mom, despite waiting tables and doing odd jobs. One of the most devastating things I had to do was leaving my newborn son with the babysitter so I can go to school and then work. Through many sleepless nights and with a lot of help from kind strangers, I was able to graduate cum laude and became a lawyer, practicing law in Honolulu…

Top 10 Cleaning Hacks Everyone Should Know
This is a guest post by Abel. He is the owner of Cleaning Tribe, which provides high quality house cleaning & maid services in Los Angeles.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Let's face it, most of us don't get much joy out of cleaning. The chances are that you'd much
rather be spending some quality time with your family, or relaxing after a hard day at work, rather
than scrubbing your floors or getting stains out of worn old carpets.
A cleaning team can tackle some of the bigger jobs on your behalf. However, to help you get by
in the meantime, here are a few quick cleaning hacks that could make your life a little easier.
1. Use Citrus to Give your Microwave Zing
If you want to deodorize, clean, and sanitize your microwave in one go, all you need is a little
lemon juice. Simply mix water and lemon juice in a microwave-friendly bowl, and let it heat up
in your microwave for five minutes. The steam will get rid of all the nasty stuff, so you can just
wipe the inside down when it's done.
2. Use a Squeegee to Save your Vacuum
Rather than vacuuming for hours just to get pet hair out of your carpet, try using a squeegee to
collect that unwanted to fur in no-time. If you don't have one, a standard set of rubber gloves
could speed the task up too.
3. Eliminate Clutter
Cluttered rooms attract dust, and they're hard to clean. If you want to avoid dirt (and spiders
lurking in your storage rooms), get rid of clutter whenever you can. Donate the things you don't
need or put certain valuables in storage.
4. Collect Broken Glass with Bread
When you accidentally smash something in your kitchen, it can be tough to make sure you've
swept up all the shards. Grab a piece of bread, and gently press it down on the floor to pick up
any remnants you might have missed.
5. Spruce up your Silverware
If you've got company coming around and you're too embarrassed to show off your tarnished
silverware, you can try cleaning it up quickly with a dose of ketchup. A bottle of generic ketchup
should be enough for a few cleanings.
6. Use Vinegar for Limescale
If soap and limescale have built up on your shower heads, simply soak them overnight in a
mixture of half vinegar, half water. In the morning, you can simply wipe them clean for
sparkling-fresh attachments.
7. Prevent Trash Tragedies
Trash cans are often brimming with germs that can cause illness and disease. To keep germs from
spreading, place balls of newspaper in the bottom of your garbage bags to absorb liquids, so they don't drip everywhere when you go to move the bag outside.
8. Use Kitty Litter in your Garage
If your garage floor is looking past its best thanks to oil and fluid stains, you can use kitty litter to
soak up the mess. Once you're done, simply sweep the litter away for a refreshed look.
9. Clean Blinds with Dryer Sheets
If you're struggling to get the dust off your blinds, dryer sheets could be the answer you've been
looking for. All you need to do is run them across dirty blinds, and these little sheets will draw
dust to themselves like moths to a flame.
10. Try Onions on the Grill
Keep your grill looking great by rubbing half a white onion on it when it's slightly heated. This
will remove some of the carbon build-up and season the grill at the same time.
Pour Conclure
And there you have it. Ten cleaning hacks you can implement starting today to make your life
easier & be that much closer to cleaning like a true pro.
Which hack are you going to implement today? Is it using citrus in your microwave for a faster
efficient clean? Or will it be using a squeegee to save your vacuum?

Best Way to clean hard water stains
Number one issue for Las Vegas homeowners when it comes to cleaning their homes - the hard water stains. They get on the shower doors and look so ugly and sad. Super annoying!
We've researched and tested the cleaning techniques and materials and discovered that the best way to clean the hard water stains off shower doors - Barkeeper's Friend gel. You have to apply it liberally and let it sit for five minutes (very important!). Afterwards, wash it off with a hot water and dishwashing sponge.
Add some shine with a glasscleaner afterwards and you're all set!

Happy Holidays!
We had a busy and amazing year. Thank you so much to all of our dear clients and friends! Have a great holiday season, filled with love, peace, and joy!
Growing Pains
Being one of the busiest house cleaning companies in Vegas doesn't come without a price. Sometimes our maid or a team of maids calls out for personal reasons. Other times our clients cancel at the last moment - for example, due to a flu. Whenever that happens, all of our teams have to make adjustments and suffer a bit - from too much work. Or, not enough work.
On a bright side of things, it just emphases the very fundamental fact that this is a people's business. It's very hard to replace the care and the love that our staff puts into making our clients' homes beautiful and stress-free. It's just as rewarding for the clients as it is for us.
